The buoyant job markets in the Channel Islands continue to remain challenging for HR staff and business owners. Staff shortages are in most industries, and with work permits being limited coupled with the lack of rented accommodation available things may be getting tougher.

When employers are faced with a lack of candidates, and to stop salaries further increasing, perhaps they could consider employing professionally qualified staff to work from outside the islands for jobs that are either hybrid or able to be done by working remotely.

Most companies have continued to allow key staff to work remotely since Covid – so why not from another location? Employers have been surprised that staff completed their jobs at home equally as good as if they were based in the office.

It is worth companies considering employing staff in other countries to work remotely which cuts out work permits and housing problems and population increasing in both islands.
